Simulated: about six seconds after load, the harness pretends a second installed extension just made a network call while this ChatGPT tab was open, the same way the real content script's chrome.runtime message would report it. Everything else — the popup, its event log, the monitoring indicator in the corner of the page — is the genuine extension code running unmodified.
